This is the Carretera de Burgos - the N-620A - looking west from about halfway through town. This was a Sunday and the congregation was off to church

image

Just behind the church, on the edge of farmland, is this fine house. With the shutters closed, it must be quite gloomy inside

image

The front door of a house on the main street. Sad to see burglar bars in a tiny rural community like Celada

image

From the main street it was easy to see the edge of town down any of the side streets

image

At the heart of Celada is this complex - the City Hall, the Medical Office, the Cultural Center, the games court and, in the rear, the church

image

St Nicholas is the only game in town as far as religion goes. A sizeable church for such a small town

image

The Gothic portico is plain and somewhat the worse for wear

image

Inside, the church looks quite comfortable in spite of the stone floors

image

The baptistery is at the rear of the nave. Signs of stress are everywhere in the building structure

image

Outside is no better. This butress is at the base of the bell tower

image

At the other end of the church, above the altar, lives one of the 33,000 storks that nest where they please throughout Spain

image

A single nest can extend to 6 feet in diameter, 10 feet in height and weigh more than half a ton
