Barra lighthouse. Construction continues, witnessed by the cranes

The romantic lighthouse on the right has been functionally replaced by the smaller coastguard tower at the left

There is a half mile long breakwater/pier running into the Atlantic

image

Many of the locals seem to spend their day fishing. The pier is not unfinished nor derelict, this is simply the rustic finish

image

Yet another navigation light, this one solar powered, adorns the end of the pier

image

Breakwater protection is provided by these randomly strewn concrete jacks. This little guy looks a little down

However, a few kind words and a pat on the head soon revives him

This stylish cafe looks very inviting

image

The right hand box houses the kitchen and service area, the left hand box is dedicated to toilet facilities. We didn't stop to find out more

image

Toward the south end of Costa Nova, where the sand continually blows over everything, stand these startling looking holiday homes

image

Not yet open for the summer, the windows are all shuttered but the overall perception is brightened by the plentiful graffiti

Here are some more elderly low cost dwellings undergoing transformation into swanky vacation villas

The intra-coastal waterway

There was a non-functional Aires de Service by this church although the absence of any services did not deter these campers
