This eye-jarring piece of unsightlyness is the Cultural Center of Andorra la Vella. With trendsetting elegance of this caliber, it's small wonder that anything goes in Andorra when it comes to architectural design

Every scrap of land that can be built on is being built on. Some new apartment blocks that were in early construction at one end of the building, were already being lived in at the other end

image

Yowser! How relaxing

image

Living on the edge. A fast flowing river runs through town and is contained in what, in other cities, would be called storm drain. A hundred yards or so, either side of the river, the terrain quickly returns to steep and rugged

image

This must make grocery shopping homecoming quite a workout

image

Venturing into "Old Town" requires navigating steep cobbled streets. Probably the most authentic artifacts here are the fiber-glass planter logs - they are almost comically faux

image

This is a vehicular road in old town. The cobbled paving is so steep that a stairway is built in the center to aid old folk like us

image

The recurring theme throughout town is incongruity. Multiple mixed styles frequently exist in individual buildings and bear no regard for harmony with adjacent properties

image

Here, some smart cookie must have figured out that the road was wider than needed, and promptly squeezed in this ill-favored apartment block

image

What were they thinking!

image

For a paltry 3/4 million dollars you could own one half of this duplex offered in a realtors window. Just think, 1200 square feet at little more than $600.00 per square foot - Awesome!

image

We did come across this rather nondescript church near the old town but failed to determine anything useful about it

image

The interior is plain but homey, just not too free in sharing its pedigree

image

Perhaps this little fellow, railed into a small garden outside the main entrance, knows more...

image

The popular part of town is a couple of streets lined with high end stores and stylish boutiques peddling their wares at discount prices. Traffic Wardens are a necessary part of life in dealing with errant parkers

image

At the city pound, here is the afternoon's haul of tow-aways. A roller skate is popped under each wheel and the jolly little tractor hauls the offending vehicles away - a non-stop process from what we saw

image

An incredible oversight - a piece of flat land that thus far has escaped development. Perhaps, being by the swift river, it is prone to flooding

image

On this cool Sunday, the field was hosting a rugby game

image

Back at the campsite, there were plenty of picturesque terraced sites available. Although advertized as having 3 amp service, notice how long the cord has to be for the camper on the right - it runs clear across the picture
